The bag everyone's talking about! Custom and original art on something you can wear around town (& get lots of compliments on). 

These bags are truly a labor of love on my part. I hand-embroider the text with a needle and thread (usually sitting on the couch watching another episode of Gilmore Girls), and I paint all of the artwork by hand with acrylic fabric medium paint, to ensure the paintings adhere to the bags. No cheapo Sharpie drawings here!

How it works

 

1.) Step one: 

Choose your tote bag! You can pick between multiple sizes, brands, and strap colors.

I generally work with totes from ShoreBags or L.L.Bean, but I can also work with totes from Alex Mill, Lands End, and other canvas totes. handbags, duffles, etc.

A new ShoreBag or L.L.Bean tote is included in the listing price, however all other totes would be an additional charge and your responsibility.

• 2-bottle wine tote (9"W x 10"H x 4"D) 
• Make-up pouch (11"W x 7"H x 3"D) 
• Small (13.5"W x 8.5"H x 4.5"D) 
• Medium (20"W x 13"H x 7"D) 
• Large (24"W x 15"H x 8.5"D) 

L.L.Bean:

• Mini (10"W x 7"H x 6"D)
• Small (9½"W x 10½"H x 5"D)
• Tall Small (9.5"W x 12.5"H x 5"D) (only comes in black, navy blue, hunter green, natural)
• Medium (13"W x 12"H x 6"D)
• Large (17"W x 15"H x 7½"D)
• Extra-Large (19"W 17"H x 10"D)

 

Strap colors

I have a short list of colors I work with between ShoreBags and L.L.Bean that overlap in terms of offering. Colors between brands might not match perfectly, but generally these are the colors I work with: 

• Red
• Navy blue
• Orange
• Pink
• Natural (no color)
• Medium blue
• Hunter green
• Black
• Purple
• Royal blue
• Light blue (L.L.Bean only!)

If a color you want is not listed, please reach out!

 

A few things to note:

• If the brand of tote that you want is not included in the above list, I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to embroider your tote, as I haven't tested other brands with my embroidery technique. However, I can offer to paint your wording instead! 
  
  
• If you already have a bag you'd like me to paint on, I do offer that as an option as well! Please note, you are responsible for shipping the bag to me (I will provide my shipping address via email.) If this is something you'd like, please visit this listing, (please note that providing your own tote, will not dramatically change the price of the customization — you're paying for my time, expertise, and effort). 

 

2.) Step two: 

Purchase your bag & email me (abby@byaugustpoint.com) with the following info: 

1. The text you'd like embroidered (or painted) 

If you're not sure, we can wait on this until closer to the ship date or I can help you figure out something fun. 

2. Choose your thread color

Generally it's nice to match the thread color to the paintings you have in mind, or I can tailor the paintings to match the thread color of your choice. 

All available thread colors are in the listing images! If you want something not offered, please reach out.

3. The theme of the bag and what you want on it. 

Please note, this listing is for ONE painted side of the tote. If you'd like both sides and/or the straps painted, it will require an additional fee as an additional side would double the amount of time it takes me to work on these. 

Here are some ideas:
• New England Summer
• All the favorite things of someone special
• Portrait of your pet with their name embroidered
• All of your favorite food with “groceries” or “girl dinner” as the text

Please also be mindful of how many items you are requesting. The more items you want on the bag, the smaller each item needs to be. 

 

3.) Step three: 

Once I receive the info from step two, I will get started on a rough digital sketch of your tote and possibly more questions depending on how much detail you provide. 

Please expect this within 3-5 days of placing your order. 

Once you confirm that you’re happy with the sketch, I will get started on painting and embroidering. Lead time starts from confirmation of the sketch, not from time of purchase as I can't account your response time into my time to complete the bag.

Please note: Lead time for custom orders varies by the request & size of the bag, as well as my other load of orders at the time you place your order, but is at least 8-10 weeks unless a rush fee is paid.

Return & policy

Because our tote bags are made to order (and possibly custom), we do not accept returns. 

Please make sure you have taken a look at other bags that I've painted previously so  you're familiar with my painting style and technique. By purchasing one of these bags, you are giving me artistic license to make you a custom piece of art in the same type of style, unless previously and specifically requested.
